Physical theatre
We have been learning about physical theatre, the group shown above are called DV8 and are the group we as a class have been learning about. My Group in class have to produce a workshop on the physical theatre company "STOMP", how they do their work, what inspires them and what makes them unique.
In our work shops we learned basic Physical Theatre Techniques.
working on our own, learning how our own bodies connect with space and the ground and in pairs, giving weight and learning how to lift each other and be lifted affectively.
Colourscape workshop
the colourscape workshop in clapham was an interesting experiance. It is a large inflatable structure of light and colour, we explored the fact that colour can be seen and felt. Colourscape is about opening up indervidual senses, stimulating creativity and imagination through the colour and sound. we walked though inflatable chambers that where red, blue, green, yellow and silvery grey, yet they seemed to change colour, for example when i was sitting in the red chamber, it seemed to change to orange without me realising, due to the sunlight. i liked the experiance, finding the changing colours enchanting, yet i hesitated to enter the Red chamber, for some reason it seemed rather forboding and i found it hard to see where i was going within the red, where as the blue chambers where enchanting and drew me into them willingly.
LESSONS
today we started to develope our our idea's for our production of "The Witches" - the Roald Dahl story.
my group where given the witches eye to create after we watched a performance where the dancers where wearing all black, exept two in all white, the lights where turned off and uv lights made the ones in white show up blue and the ones in black became invisible, meaning they could minipulate the ones in white without being seen. this gave us the inspiration to make our hands become a huge eye, only our arms and hands being visible.
continued
we have now developed the work on the witches further,
in lessons we have put together the scene where the witches are revealing themselfs.
my group are the eyes, we sit in the audiance with glasses on, one minute looking normal the next having purple eyes, doing this repeatedly throughout the scene on stage, creating a creepy atmosphere in the audiance.
while we are doing this, on stage they are creating a full movement scene, using UV light so only the hands, balls, and brooms are seen by the audiance.
where as in the lessons with Gav we have started to look at the scene where "grandma" is telling "boy" how to spot a "real" witch. experimenting with tone of voice, movement and masks.
